I’m in Love! Vintage Trends for 2009/10

30 07 2009

OMG!  I’m so in Love!  Having seen some of the beautiful designer wear on the catwalks and runways for 2009/10, I’ve suddenly become all doe-eyed and can feel my heart skipping a beat.  This years autumn/winter trends have got to be some of the most divine creations I’ve seen yet!    My personal trend favourites are:

The Fabulous Forties
Wide shoulders and nipped in waists, peplums, bare backs and lots of girly glamour.

Forties glamour from L'Wren Scott, Chris Benz and Aquilano Rimondi

The High-Flying Eighties
The decade that fashion won’t forget.  Lots of Studio 54 nostalgia with metallic leather and acid-wash jeans plus sexy party frocks.

I’ve been away from my beloved blog for a couple of weeks but I’ve just enough time to post my interview with The Vintage List.  I’m also posting some photos of recent vintage purchases which have just been listed in my Etsy store and also on the Catwalk Creative Vintage website.  There’s so much more to be listed so please keep checking back to see what new items have arrived!  You can also take a peek at my Flickr photos (see right side-bar, further down this page).

The summer holidays are now upon us and my plan was to slow-down over the next few weeks and take some time out.  There’s no chance of that!  I’ve taken stock of some fabulous retro 60’s and 70’s ladies shirts and blouses PLUS I’ve acquired some divine vintage formal wear and a lovely selection of vintage scarves (see photos below).

As mentioned in my previous post, I’m now writing a regular vintage article for The Fashion Birdcage.  The first issue has been postponed until the 10th August so you’ll have to wait just a little while longer to read my interview with the fabulous Nicole Jenkins of Circa Vintage Clothing in Melbourne.  It will be worth waiting for I can assure you!  Watch this space!  There’s no rest for the wicked!

However, I’ll be off to sunny Spain for a week in August so I’m really looking forward to a few days of hot, hot weather (I’ll be near Granada in the south of Spain so I expect to get either heat stroke or prickly heat)!  Until then, it’s work, work, and more work.  Who am I kidding!  This isn’t work – I love it too much!!!

The Fashion Birdcage New Online Magazine!

New Online Publication, The Fashion Birdcage

New Online Publication, The Fashion Birdcage

I’m delighted to report that the very first issue of new online publication, The Fashion Birdcage, is due out on the 10th August 2009.  It’s going to be one amazing fashion magazine so please subscribe and make sure you receive your monthly fashion fix!

I’m also able to report that I’ve been chosen to write a regular vintage article for The Fashion Birdcage and I couldn’t be more excited!  My first piece is an interview with Nicole Jenkins of Circa Vintage, based in Melbourne.  I’ve been longing to interview Nicole for ages.   We met on the forums of the Vintage Fashion Guild (VFG) and Nicole astounded me with her knowledge of vintage fashion.  She knows so much in fact, that she’s written a book, Love Vintage, due to be published this October.   If you want to know more about vintage fashion, including the many styles, designs and construction of the garments, I definitely recommend purchasing a copy of Nicole’s book.  You can put your name down for a copy at the publishing company here.

Please offer your support and let me have your comments and reviews on The Fashion Birdcage – along with my new monthly vintage article! oxoxoxoxo
